  • Hey Jeff

I got your awesome machine set up and on the roller stand I built for it.

The 10” wheel fit the shaft line-to-line (light press) runout less than .0005.wow thanks

The 8” wheel 6oo grit had some axial wobble but I found the problem was with the “precision washer between the wheel and the retaining ring. The opposite faces were out of parallel a full one-thousandth of an inch. When I fixed it on the lathe and tuned the rotation phase angle to the best case the runout went to virtually zip. The tool rests are just beautiful in both design and execution.

The speed control is so satisfying.

    I’ll send pictures later.

Thanks for doing what you do!!

    Scott

  • I have been using the Tradesman grinder for 2 weeks now and it’s one of those “how did we ever get along without it?” things. Compared to other grinders I have used this is a master piece…the guards deflect the dust stream that would otherwise be in your face…there is no vibration …no noise… money well spent…yours truly

  • I can tell you this. I’ve been doing this for 33 years. I have sharpened over an estimated 20,000 pairs of scissors myself. Both micro I surgical scissors neurological and cardiac microscissors along with every other kind a scissor you can dream up.

What I noticed using your machine is that it’s a completely new experience. The way I deal with the instrument on the platinum is completely different. The way that the machine cuts is different than standard grinders.

The amount of control that I was starting to learn to be able to gain was wild. So I can tell you Dash the machine is different enough that it will take me a little getting used to and then I will have a much better product.

I did notice that the scissors are coming out about twice as sharp as they had been from my previous set up.

    Thank you so much Jeff”

  • Jeff,

Unit is working fine for us.

We haven’t used it for tooling, just production occasionally.

It works well for us on Ti6Al4V titanium to do rough detail match work during pistol finishing.

Works well sharpening tungsten for TIG welding also….

Probably need to buy another unit for some soft diamond wheels (FLEXWHEEL – SEE PHOTO) we have

  • Hi Brad, we are very happy with the cutter. We went from 45 minutes on the surface grinder to 45 seconds on the cutter. We have well over a hundred cuts with the original wheel.
    Thank you Andrew

  • Brad,
I wanted (as promised) to get back to you with my review of the grinder. Since starting to use your system along with my various one way sharpening jigs I can report that my wood turning experience has improved immensely. Over the past number of months I have completed some 150 pieces on my lathe thanks to this grinding system. My tools no longer show any signs of over heating, the edges are true and the speed at which a sharp edge is developed is far faster than using a stone. I have never worked with a grinder as smooth running a quiet as yours, in fact it is so quiet I have had to post a note beside it to ensure I have shut it off. I can honestly say that if anyone is serious about sharp tools this system far exceeds anything I have used to date.

  • I did a lot of research before purchasing your system and it is a phenomenal unit and works as advertised. A lot more expensive than I had planned on but I have no regrets. The quality is superior to any system I could find.
    thanks again

  • Yes, Mr. Bateman, I have a Tradesman grinder. It is one of my best purchases – ever. I put a One Way Wolverine kit with it. I particularly like the Tradesman for sharpening the cutters for my coring system. It’s great how my wife spoils me. Life is as good as it can get for two retired educators in the state (Oklahoma)

  • ” My initial answer would have been “”no”” cause I have everything darn tool and accessory already and then some. I’m the Tim Allen of woodturning. Ah ah ah ahhhhh, However, a few weeks ago I added the Jamison Bowl gouge to my weapon collection and was happy about it. I was influenced by one of our administrator’s comments about it. It performs outstandingly.

Also about a year ago, I made the plunge to the Tradesman Grinder as a result of a discussion here. I have both belt and CBN. The best purchase(woodturning) I have made since 2000 when I bought my 2436 and well worth the extra money for the variable speed and the out of the box near-zero runout on the CBN wheel. Customer service is just extraordinary.
Yeah, so coming to this site is dangerous to your financial health. However, when I go into my shop and see my Oneway and Tradesman the feeling of joy that I get money cant buy! ”

  • As of late I have been doing a lot of sharpening and I am delighted to say that the Tradesman bench grinder is an absolute delight to use.
Much better than either my Baldor or Tormek.
It is a fine machine, even for amateurs like me. Congratulations.

  • First class service from Cuttermasters — friendly and helpful, my grinder was delivered in the UK in no time. I recommend them.

  • After looking at the Tradesman grinders for years, I finally decided to purchase one. I made the call to Jeff Toycen who patiently answered all my questions. He put together a package for me and it was delivered the same week. I ended up with the large Edge 810 with a 2×48 belt and 8” CBN on the wheel side. My primary purpose for this grinder was for sharpening chisels/irons/knives. I have been fortunate enough to have owned numerous tools over the last 20 years, including Baldor high and slow speed grinders, as well as 2 Tormek machines, I knew exactly what I wanted and had high hopes that this machine would deliver it all in a single package. After receiving the Edge 810, I can confidently say it is the most versatile/functional/accurate grinder I have ever been around. I can hollow grind edge tools extremely fast and accurately with the CBN wheel, swap to a knife with a Tormek jig on the belt side with no change, and all with variable speed and reverse. The options are endless, thank you Jeff, I am so pleased with this purchase! Thank you, Brandon

  • The Tradesman Edge is without a doubt the best grinder that’s available for civilian use. I’ve ground tools and bevels into thick plate – no matter what it is this grinder can handle it. And the coin on its edge at full speed without falling over is totally true.

  • This Tradesman Edge is the best damn grinder out there man. Everytime I walk in my shop and see that damn thing I grin. I really do. I’m grinding the hell outta stuff because I can. This thing will absolutely mow down some metal. Incredible job guys. Worth every penny.
